Broken asphalt on Mihai Bravu Road. Thermoenergetics: 10 concrete slabs were damaged, the heating gallery is severely damaged / Traffic remains restricted

At least ten concrete slabs were damaged following the asphalt burst that occurred on Saturday morning on the Mihai Bravu Highway in the Capital, informs the municipal company Termoenergetica Bucharest, noting at the same time that the structural condition of the heating gallery is “severely degraded”, so road traffic on the affected section cannot be resumed.
Each of the ten affected concrete slabs is about 4.5 meters long.
“Following the technical checks carried out on the spot, it was found that the structural condition of the heating gallery is severely degraded, which is why the installation of the cover plates cannot be carried out safely at this moment. Consequently, road traffic on the affected section of the Mihai Bravu Highway cannot be resumed. In order to allow the resumption of the supply of heating agent to consumers, the heating pipe located inside the gallery will be loaded with heating agent, an operation that carried out with the permanent monitoring of the technical teams”, reports the company.
During Monday, the technical solutions for the restoration of the heating gallery, as well as for the restoration of the road structure on the affected section, will be established.
“Until the completion of these evaluations and the necessary works, traffic restrictions remain in force,” states Termoenergetica.
On Saturday morning, the roadway was broken on the Mihai Bravu Highway, and for traffic safety, traffic restrictions were instituted on the direction from Calea Vitan to Camil Ressu Boulevard.
According to Termoenergetica, the cause of the outage is currently unknown.
“The teams of the Bucharest Municipal Energy Company (CMTEB), together with those of the ELSACO company, intervened already in the morning to check the heating networks located in the area and to stabilize the affected perimeter”.
“Also, Magistrala 2 Sud, put into operation in 1972, is included in the modernization program carried out by the Large Infrastructure Operational Program (POIM), Lot 1 – Objective 1, the works being executed by the company ELSACO”, states Termoenergetica.
