Laurentiu Beșu, the magistrate who appeared in the Recorder documentary “Captured Justice”, investigated and summoned to the Judicial Inspection

Laurentiu Beșu, former judge and current prosecutor, who appeared in the Recorder documentary “Captured Justice”, is under disciplinary investigation by the Judicial Inspection for “not respecting the secrecy of the deliberation”, according to PressHub. The Judicial Inspection, through the Inspection Directorate for Judges, summoned Beșu to the institution's headquarters on March 25.
The referral in the case of Laurentiu Beșu was made by the management of the Bucharest Court of Appeal, which in December sent requests to the Judicial Inspection, the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM), the National Council for the Study of Security Archives (CNSAS) and the Supreme Council of National Defense (CSAT).
The Bucharest Court of Appeal qualified the judge's statements from the journalistic investigation as “derogatory and without factual coverage”. Moreover, the Court insinuated, pointing to some press articles from last year, that Judge Beșu would be an undercover agent.
According to PressHub, the Judicial Inspection will check all the cases resolved by Beșu and formulate a solution proposal.
The disciplinary decision will be taken by the Section for Judges of the CSM, and any appeal will be definitively resolved by the High Court of Cassation and Justice (ÎCCJ).
According to the quoted source, the procedure is unusual, because a prosecutor will be disciplinary investigated by a judicial inspector judge.
In December, Laurențiu Beșu resigned from his position as a judge at the Bucharest Court in order to be appointed to the position of prosecutor in Giurgiu.
