The Chief Inspectorate of Commercial Quality of Agricultural and Food Products systematically provides information about products withheld during inspections. On March 10 and 11, two unfavorable decisions were made regarding imported food.

Over 600 thousand eggs with entry ban

As he informed IJHARS, the branch in Katowice decided not to allow two batches of fresh chicken eggs imported from Ukraine to be sold in Poland. The total transport weight was 35,700 kg, which corresponds to 604,800 pieces.

The reason for stopping the delivery were irregularities in the product markings, including: lack of proper information regarding the breeding method.

Not only eggs, but also 18 thousand. kg of cabbage. In turn, the branch in Rzeszów detected deficiencies in a batch of Chinese cabbage imported from Ukraine with a total weight of 18,560 kg. The reason for the suspension of transport were irregularities in the product markings.

There are many more such cases

In 2025 IJHARS inspected over 81 thousand batches of food imported to Poland from other countries.

– In 2025, a total of 95 decisions were issued banning the placing on the market of 119 batches of agri-food products – we read further on finanse.wp.pl

This is clearly less than a year earlier. In 2024, IJHARS branches issued a total of 234 negative decisions regarding 332 batches of products.

In 2025, most bans concerned goods from Ukraine (21 batches)China (17 parties), Turkey (10 parties), Egypt (10 parties) and Great Britain (9 parties). The most frequently detected irregularities concerned: incorrect labeling of products, failure to meet the requirements for organic food, the presence of live or dead pests, as well as signs of spoilage or mold.

– The most frequently questioned items were processed vegetables, fish, spices and herbs, non-alcoholic drinks, juices and nectars, seafood, confectionery, fruit preserves, fish and frozen fruit – says Tomasz Białas, director Office of Strategy and Internal Control in the Chief Inspectorate of Commercial Quality of Agricultural and Food Products.
