Prices down sharply. We know new data from stores

Currently, the price for a basket of basic food products in Poland is average PLN 111 86 gr – this is according to the latest ranking of experts from the PanParagon application for Business Insider Polska.
This is a clear decline compared to the previous week – prices shrank by 0.8%. But it is also clearly cheaper than a year ago at the same time – here we have a decrease of 0.85%.
These products are getting more expensive. Oil at the forefront
Only four products increased in price on a weekly basis, says PanParagon. The prices of rapeseed oil increased the most – by 4.6%. Now, on average, we have to pay as much as PLN 9.15 for a liter of oil. Apples and carrots are also becoming more expensive (by just over 2%). In the case of chicken breast, the increase is lower and amounts to less than 1%.
The rest of the article is below the video:
The prices of two products from the basket – rolls and potatoes – remained unchanged. However, as many as seven products are becoming cheaper – especially raspberry tomatoes, whose average price has decreased by over 6% in a week. By 2.4 percent broccoli, in turn, is cheaper.

So basically, things are looking really good from a consumer perspective. The question remains how long such relatively low prices can last. Fuel prices in Poland are already starting to react to the conflict in the Middle East. And yet this will necessarily affect basic food products – after all, transport costs always affect commodity prices.

Why do we analyze receipts?
Data from receipts tell us the truth about how much Poles pay on average for individual items. We analyze 14 basic products that are on the shopping lists of most Poles.
PanParagon is a popular application that allows you to search for promotions and store receipts. Every month, approximately 2 million proofs of purchase enter the system. Such extensive, anonymous data from receipts allows us to create reliable analyzes regarding, among others: actual product prices, real inflation or current purchasing trends.
The tool is used by residents of both large cities and smaller centers. Both those who buy in discount stores and those who prefer local grocery stores. This gives us a full price range.
