The incident occurred on Tuesday when the ship was approximately 200 km north of Sirte, Libya. Then a series of explosions occurred on board, which caused a fire. The crew sent an SOS signal and left the unit.

The tanker subject to sanctions was carrying 62,000. tons of liquefied natural gas. Its route led from Murmansk in Russia to Port Said in Egypt.

On Wednesday, Russian authorities accused Ukraine of carrying out an attack using naval drones that were supposedly sent from the coast of Libya. Ukraine did not admit responsibility for this maritime disaster.
