In a clear signal that they have lost their patience, the US demands “concrete proposals” from Ukraine and Russia, otherwise “we will withdraw from the role of mediators”

The head of American diplomacy, Marco Rubio, said on Tuesday that it is time for Moscow and Kiev to present concrete proposals to end the Ukraine war and warned that the US will withdraw from the mediator if there is no progress, the spokesman for the State Department, Tammy Bruce, announced.
“We are at a time when the two parties have to present concrete proposals regarding the conclusion of this conflict,” said Bruce, citing a statement by Rubio.
“The way we proceed from here on is a decision that now belongs to the president. If no progress is made, we will withdraw from the role of mediators in this process,” Bruce added, referring to President Donald Trump, who tried to obtain an agreement to conclude the conflict in Ukraine.
Bruce also sent to the reporters, during a press conference, that the US is pursuing “a complete and durable armistice and the termination of the conflict”, not “three days to celebrate something else”.
On Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin said a three-day armistice, which is to take place in May, in the war with Ukraine, to mark 80 years since the victory of the Soviet Union and its allies in World War II, in a movement that seemed to signal that Russia is still interested in peace.
Ukraine questioned the reason why Moscow would not agree with Kiev's request for a armistice of at least 30 days, with immediate start.
Both Kiev and Moscow have tried to show Trump that they make progress in the direction of his goal of reaching a peace agreement quickly, after the US threatened to give up peace efforts. The Trump administration has become impatient in the face of hesitant efforts to reach peace, notes Reuters.
Since taking over the mandate, in January, Trump has radically changed US policy, prescribing Ukraine to accept an armistice and reduce pressure on Russia.
Ukrainian and European officials rejected some US proposals on how to conclude Russia in Ukraine last week, presenting counterpoints such as territory and sanctions, according to the integral texts of these proposals, consulted by Reuters.
