Donald Trump vowed on Sunday to “avenge” the deaths of three American soldiers, previously announced in the conflict with Iran, and said there will “probably” be other losses for the United States, reports AFP.

“Unfortunately, there will probably be more before the end. That's the way things are,” says the US president in a video posted on his social network Truth Social.

Regarding the three dead soldiers, Donald Trump said: “America will avenge their deaths and deal the hardest blow to the terrorists who declared war, basically, on civilization.”

Earlier on Sunday, the US military announced the first casualties among US forces involved in the war in Iran. The Central Command briefly communicated the information, avoiding providing further details about the deaths of the soldiers.

In a statement, U.S. Central Command says three U.S. service members have been killed in combat as part of U.S. operations against Iran. Five others were seriously injured in Operation Epic Fury, the statement added.

Trump had anticipated loss of life

Iran responded to the attack launched by the US and Israel by launching strikes against US bases in the region.

And Trump admitted in a video statement posted Saturday morning that some American servicemen could lose their lives.

“The lives of brave American heroes may be lost and we may have casualties – which often happens in war – but we are not doing this for the present. We are doing this for the future and it is a noble mission,” the US president said.
