Inter, the team trained by Cristi Chivu, beat Genoa sponsored by Dan Țucu 2-0 and is at the top of the standings at a comfortable distance from second placed Milan.
Although Inter won 3 points on Saturday night, in the duel with Genoa (2-0), there were also critical tones. Some were not satisfied with what Cristi Chivu's team showed, which caused the strong reaction of the Romanian technician at the press conference.
Cristi Chivu: “Nothing goes well for some”
“Inter's efforts are never enough? It's a narrative that has nothing to do with reality. The team is never given credit for the work they've done in recent years. The players are always under scrutiny and nothing goes right for some.
We move forward, trying to make things right until the end. Why is this happening? You have to ask those who have something against what the team has done in recent years…”, Chivu pointed out.
Inter comes after 14 wins and a draw in the championship
Inter are unbeaten in Serie A since November 23, 2025, since that 0-1 draw with Milan, during which they have recorded 14 wins and a draw. Asked how he succeeded in this series, the Romanian coach answered: “Believing, working hard, aware that in football you win and lose, but you have to work hard to be competitive.
We were knocked out of the Champions League with two defeats, home and away. I worked hard, physically and mentally, to mentally overcome this shock and recharge my batteries.”
Cristi Chivu doesn't want to hear about “a match ball”
For Inter, the semi-final of the Italian Cup against Como follows on Tuesday, and the derby with Milan is scheduled for next Sunday. Chivu, however, did not want to say whether the duel with the local rival is “a match ball” in the battle for the scudetto:
“At the moment I'm only thinking about the semi-final with Como. For me, for now, Milan does not exist. It's a game too far. But I don't think the season ends after the derby. There will be 10 more stages to play”.
