Several videos shot by witnesses and posted on social media show the moment the entrance to the luxury Fairmont Hotel in Dubai is hit by a projectile and a large explosion occurs. The BBC has verified the authenticity of several of these clips.
For example, footage shot from a building opposite the Fairmont Hotel shows the moment of impact, followed by an explosion. The person filming appears to fall to the floor and moves away from the balcony as a large fireball erupts in front of him.
Other video footage that could be verified shows large plumes of smoke rising above the five-star hotel.
Additional footage, shot from a slow-moving vehicle, shows a large fire outside the hotel on Palm Jumeirah, Dubai's man-made archipelago known for its luxury hotels.

What Fairmont The Palm Hotel in Dubai looked like

An explosion was heard and a large plume of smoke could be seen rising over Dubai's iconic artificial island, the Palm Jumeirah, on Saturday evening as Iran retaliated in the Gulf region against US and Israeli attacks.
Also, residents of Dubai, as well as journalists on the scene, reported that other strong explosions followed.
Local authorities have confirmed an “incident” that happened at a building in a neighborhood of the Palm Jumeirah island, which caused a fire and resulted in four injured people, who were transported to the hospital, reports AFP. Also, the emergency services announced that the fire was extinguished.
Palm Jumeirah is the largest and most famous artificial island in the world. It was built between 2001 and 2008 and is located in the emirate of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Shaped like a date palm, the unique island is home to luxury hotels and some of the most exclusive properties in the world.
About 90% of the UAE's population is made up of foreigners, and Dubai, its most populous city, is associated with opulence and glamour.
According to AFP, Iran has launched attacks on all countries in the oil-rich Persian Gulf region, with the exception of Oman, which was a mediator in the talks between Washington and Tehran.
