Donald Trump is losing patience with Iran. “We've been playing with them for 47 years”

— We've been playing with them for 47 years. They are destroying our ships one by one and every month something new appears; we can't afford it. We are not satisfied with the negotiations. They simply don't want to say the key words: “We will not have nuclear weapons,” Trump said during a visit to the port of Corpus Christi, Texas.
Why is Trump unhappy with negotiations with Iran?
What concessions has Iran offered on uranium enrichment?
Is Iran currently enriching uranium?
When will the next technical talks take place?
Tehran is ready to make concessions
– They have to say: we will not have nuclear weapons, which they simply cannot have. They want to enrich uranium a little bit. They don't need to enrich when they have so much oil. So I'm not satisfied with the negotiations, the US president repeated. Trump stressed that he would not agree to any uranium enrichment by Iran: “not 20 percent, not 30 percent.”
The US president said he spoke with Vice President JD Vance, who met on Friday with Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi, who is mediating the talks with Iran, but declined to say whether any progress had been made. He also refused to answer the question when he would decide on a possible attack on Iran.
Meanwhile, Al-Busaidi argued in an interview with CBS that Tehran had decided to make far-reaching concessions regarding its nuclear program, much greater than in the case of the 2015 agreement. The Omani minister said that Iran had agreed to get rid of its stocks of highly enriched uranium and pledged not to accumulate it in the future.
– They won't be able to gather the material that will enable them to create a bomb. So there will be no accumulation, no stockpiling and full verification, al-Busaidi said. According to him, Iran has agreed to provide International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors with full access to its nuclear facilities and may also agree to the presence of American inspectors there. He also noted that Iran is not currently enriching uranium.
“It has to have the right context.”
Referring to another demand made by the US that the negotiations also cover Iran's ballistic missile program, the diplomat declared that Tehran was willing to “talk about everything.”
— But it has to have the right context, the right course, the right framework. Now the number one priority is to resolve the nuclear issue within the framework of a proper, clear agreement that precisely defines the obligations of each side, emphasized the head of Omani diplomacy.
Al-Busaidi expressed hope that further talks at the technical level will be held on Monday in Vienna, followed by further negotiations between the Iranian Foreign Minister and US Presidential envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
