Dorian Popa found out his final sentence in the case in which he was accused of driving under the influence of drugs

The Bucharest Court of Appeal sentenced the influencer Dorian Popa to 8 months of suspended prison under supervision in the case in which he was accused of driving a vehicle under the influence of psychoactive substances, according to the decision published on the justice portal. The decision is final.

“Based on article 336 paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code with application of article 5 of the Criminal Code and with application of article 396 paragraph 10 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, the defendant Popa Dorian-Laurentiu is sentenced to 8 months in prison for the crime of driving a vehicle under the influence of psychoactive substances. Based on article 91 of the Criminal Code, he orders the suspension of the execution of the sentence under supervision and establishes a supervision period of 2 years”, according to the decision on the portal.

And in the first instance, the Bucharest Court sentenced Dorian Popa to 8 months in prison with supervision. The decision was upheld at the Court of Appeal.

The file was opened after Dorian Popa was detected, on the evening of October 27, 2023, under the influence of drugs. The influencer was stopped in traffic by the traffic police in Domneşti town, Ilfov county, close to his house and tested positive with the drug test machine. Later, the toxicological report carried out at INML confirmed the presence of cannabis in the body.

Popa admitted to using cannabis, said he had “no extenuating circumstances” and was “unbelievably sorry” for setting a bad example for young people who follow him.

Community service

By today's decision, the court forces Dorian Popa to attend a social reintegration program run by the probation service or organized in collaboration with community institutions.

Also, during the term of supervision, the influencer must perform unpaid work for the benefit of the community in the Domneşti town hall, Ilfov county or in the Gheorghe Corneliu Secondary School in Domneşti commune, Ilfov county, for a period of 60 days.

During the two years in which he is under supervision, Dorian Popa must:

  • to appear at the Ilfov Probation Service, on the dates fixed by it;
  • to receive the visits of the probation counselor appointed with his supervision;
  • to announce, in advance, the change of residence and any travel that exceeds 5 days;
  • to communicate the change of job;
  • to communicate information and documents of a nature to allow the control of his means of existence.
