A Russian drone violated Romanian airspace. F-16 planes in action


The Romanian military's radars detected the presence of a drone near the border. Therefore, at approximately 17.50, in accordance with procedures, a decision was made to immediately take off two F-16 aircraft from the Fetesti base. Air defense systems were also activated. At 18:07 an official warning message was issued for residents of the northern areas of Tulcea County.

It is known that the unmanned aircraft briefly violated Romanian airspace near the Black Sea town of Sfantu Gheorghe, then left it north of Sulina, flying only over territorial waters.

According to information provided by the Romanian Ministry of Defense, the incident did not pose a direct threat to the civilian population.

The army action lasted until approximately 18.45, when the situation was considered under control. No remains of an unmanned aircraft were found in the area of ​​the incident, which was confirmed by field inspections.

The Ministry of Defense strongly condemned Russian attacks on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure. Romania considers them a serious violation of international law and a threat to regional security.
