The editorial staff of “19.30” TVP Info reported last week that the Minister of Justice, Attorney General Waldemar Żurek is planning a “new round of PiS settlements” in cooperation with the Ministry of State Assets, and a special team in the National Prosecutor's Office is to coordinate investigations into irregularities in State Treasury companies.

Korneluk said on Wednesday on TVN24 that he will not reveal details for now, as a conference with the prosecutor general will be devoted to this matter.

He only said that a special team would be created at the level of the National Prosecutor's Office to coordinate all notifications from State Treasury companies. – So that we can have full knowledge of the stage of all preparatory proceedings where we are dealing with wastage of public funds. These matters should be absolutely explained, but also presented to the society where these funds were deposited – emphasized the national prosecutor.

Last year, the head of MAP, Wojciech Balczun, announced that management board representatives would be appointed in the largest state-owned companies to hold the previous government accountable. He explained that they are to operate mainly in the largest strategic companies, including: in Orlen or PZU.

At the beginning of November last year Balczun informed that after audits aimed at detecting irregularities in State Treasury companies, approximately 100 applications were submitted to the prosecutor's office. He said then that the losses amounted to at least several billion zlotys.

In February, in an interview with PAP, Balczun argued that settling irregularities in State Treasury companies during the PiS government was important due to social expectations and the need to restore high standards. He assured that the initiative has no political context and will not disrupt the companies' current operations. He added that ending the issue of audits is one of MAP's priorities.(PAP)
