The Sustainable Circulation Factory will be built on an area of ​​25,000 m2. square meters at the Toyota plant in Wałbrzych. Grzegorz Górski from Toyota Motor Manufacturing Poland said in an interview with PAP on Friday that this is the beginning of the investment process and for now the company is not revealing the expenses it will incur in order to protect the new factory.

– We are not building any new building, but we will use the space in the current production halls. We assume that the Sustainable Circulation Factory will start operating in the second half of this year, said Górski. Current employees of Toyota Motor Manufacturing Poland will work in the new plant.

The factory will process nearly 20,000 a year. vehicles withdrawn from service. Old cars will be dismantled there to recover parts suitable for reuse. “Items such as batteries and wheels will be assessed for the possibility of their regeneration, reuse or recycling. Toyota also intends to recover valuable raw materials such as copper, steel, aluminum and plastics, which will then be used in the production of new vehicles,” Toyota Motor Manufacturing Poland (TMMP) said in a statement on Thursday.

Director of the Sustainable Circulation Factory at TMMP, Jarosław Fidler, emphasized that the Wałbrzych plant will be the largest project of this type on the Polish automotive market. “It will also allow us to diversify TMMP's activities and use our resources more effectively,” said Fidler, quoted in the release.

This is the second Sustainable Circulation Factory in Europe launched by Toyota. The first one has been operating since last year in Burnaston, UK. “We chose Poland because of its developed recycling sector, the large potential of the dismantling vehicle market and the presence of our production infrastructure. In the coming years, we plan to introduce similar investments in other European markets,” emphasized Leon van der Merwe, vice president for circular economy at Toyota Motor Europe.

Toyota's Lower Silesian factories – in Wałbrzych and Jelcz Laskowice – have been producing drive units for Toyota models for over 20 years and employ a total of nearly 3,000. people. The total value of Toyota's investments in Lower Silesia has so far amounted to PLN 7 billion. (PAP)
