The candidate of the “Romania before” alliance in the presidential elections, Crin Antonescu, said on Monday, during a debate organized by Digi24 at the Cotroceni Palace, that he did not generate and will not generate any political file, emphasizing that the criminal files must be instrumented exclusively by justice, not by the president.

Antonescu was asked if Liviu Dragnea, a former PSD leader, would have had a file, if he had been president in recent years.
“If I had been president in one of the mandates of my predecessors the last two in anyone, we would not have been in this situation, and if Mr. Liviu Dragnea would have had or not I could not tell you, because I would not have done it, as I would do it now, nor Mr. Dragnea. The files of all politicians and all citizens and laws of law in this country must be made by the bodies justified by the Constitution. I can't tell you whether or not Mr. Dragnea had or not“, Said Antonescu, at the debate organized by Digi 24 at the Cotroceni Palace.
He was also asked about his statements from that time regarding the files in the case of Liviu Dragnea.
“I did not say that no files should have been made, I did not say that he was guilty or was not guilty. (. Because Liviu Dragnea, if you want to discuss in detail, and not the only case, the first file was convicted of how much I saw and glory the Lord were quite public and the accusations and sentence, for things that in the election campaign, without being illegal, do 90% of the people who campaign. And in the second, without him signed something for hiring by someone else, two persons, so not for plundering the state budget or something else. That was my opinion. I did not prevent anything and I would not have done it and I did not do it when I had political functions in the Romanian state. Obviously, from now on or if I were president, I wouldn't do it. But I tell you one thing. I would like to be clear that whether or not I am president, in this country and in a rule of law, (…) Criminal is the law that it is criminal, not who says the press that is criminal, not who say political opponents or political colleagues, only when justice is criminal at the end of a correct trial in accordance with the Criminal Code. Otherwise, files do justice, not the president“, Said Antonescu.
