An American senator disputes the US report on the Romanian elections: “It is partisan and erroneous, Romanians should ignore it. It is not based on facts”

American Senator Jeanne Shaheen said on Monday, in Bucharest, that the report of the Judiciary Committee of the US House of Representatives regarding the elections in Romania is “erroneous and partisan”. She advised the Romanians not to pay attention to him.

The report of the Legal Commission of the House of Representatives of the United States regarding the elections in Romania is “erroneous and partisan”declared Monday, February 16, Democratic Senator Jeanne Shaheen, in a press conference in Bucharest.
“The report is an ideological documentpartisan, to whom no one pays attention in the US defense zone. We believe it is erroneous and not based on facts, so Romanians should ignore it, as it leads nowhere, I guarantee it. The majority of the House of Representatives has decided on a very partisan approach on all kinds of subjects, and this is one of them.” said the senator.
According to her, Romania remains “one of the US's most powerful, loyal and important allies”.
Shaheen met with President Nicușor Dan on Monday, as well as the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Defense. She added that the NATO partnership makes Romania and the US stronger and sends a clear message to the adversaries, especially Russia.
“Governments can change, leaders can change, but the relationship between the American and Romanian peoples will continue and that's what we saw today. Thanks to this partnership, NATO is stronger, Romania is stronger and the USA is stronger, and this is a very important message that we are sending to our adversaries, especially Vladimir Putin, in Russia.” Jeanne Shaheen pointed out.
On Monday, the Minister of Defense, Radu Miruță, received a delegation of the US Congress led by Senator Jeanne Shaheen. The officials visited the F-16 Training Center at the 86th Fetești Air Base, inaugurated in 2023, an advanced training platform for pilots from Romanian, Ukrainian and other allied states.
During the discussions, the role of the Deveselu, Mihail Kogălniceanu and Câmpia Turzii military bases in deterring aggression and strengthening NATO interoperability was emphasized.
Also, Romania reaffirmed its commitment to the progressive increase of the defense budget and the modernization of the Armed Forces through cooperation with the USA.
