The Polish energy system remains stable

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digitization Krzysztof Gawkowski told PAP on Monday in Łódź that Polish services are in contact with the services of countries that a power failure affected.
“We are in the process of mutual informing about the situation. I have no knowledge that would confirm that it was a cyberspace incident, but nothing can be ruled out at the moment. The proceedings in those countries continue. From what I already know, the first services are slowly restored” – said the deputy prime minister. He added that “awareness of what happened and what reality looked like, we will probably have only in the next hours or maybe even days.”

Gawkowski does not rule out cyber attack
The minister of digitization pointed out that current failures occur all over the world. “It is not that we are dealing with the first failure that affects millions of citizens, but they can result from different elements – from transmission overload or failures in power plants. It can also be a cybernetic attack” – he pointed out the head of Mc and added that” we will not know what we are dealing with until we have information from the countries that have failed. “
“I am in constant contact with representatives of Polish energy networks, PSE in Poland are in constant contact with state services. Today, there is no indication that the Polish system is threatened with Blackout, but this coordination will take place on a regular basis, because the information will only flow “ – said Gawkowski.
There is no reason to worry, the operator convinces
A spokesman for Polish electricity networks (PSE) – the operator of the national energy transmission system Maciej Wapiński told PAP that the power failure in Spain and Portugal does not affect the national electricity system that works stable. He added that the Polish energy transmission operator is prepared for such potential threats.
“This disruption in Spain did not affect the work of our power system. There is no reason to worry. When it comes to trade with other countries, exports take place at a planned level. For now, I have no information that energy is exported as part of emergency assistance, “he said. In his opinion, if the Spanish operator is forced to ask for it, he will direct the question to neighboring countries.
Blackout caused communication chaos on the Iberian Peninsula. According to the Spanish authorities, mastering the situation will last.
