T2 equips 620 salons with Wi-Fi points in regions with Internet restrictions

12 February 11:58

T2, a Russian mobile operator, has begun providing access to a free Wi-Fi network in communication stores. The service is open to all visitors and is designed to help customers when they urgently need the Internet, despite security restrictions.

T2 provides its outlets with a stable network WiFi in regions of restrictions. This will allow visitors to use any Internet services outside the white lists. Today to WiFi four communication shops were connected in St. Petersburg and five in Tula. In the near future, the company will equip over 620 T2 retail outlets with a free wireless local network.

Connection to WiFi carried out through the authorization platform – by phone number or through the Gosuslugi portal. The data transfer speed allows you to comfortably work with mail, instant messengers and video services. Technically, the project takes into account all cybersecurity requirements: traffic is encrypted to protect users’ personal data.

“White lists are expanding to cover more and more customer needs, but they cannot cover everyone’s needs. These could be medical services, platforms for signing up for sports activities or finding a job. By introducing free WiFi in the regions, we help clients stay connected and provide access to absolutely any resource, despite restrictions. The service will soon be opened in the operator’s retail outlets from Krasnodar to the regions of Siberia and the Far East. Thus, we are trying to adapt to the realities of the time and minimize the consequences of restrictions for any user, not just a T2 client,” noted Olga Manukovskaya, director of sales development in telecom retail T2.
