In the tick activity season of 2026, their numbers as a whole in the Krasnoyarsk Territory will remain at the long-term average level. This preliminary forecast was given by the regional Rospotrebnadzor.

Experts noted that the activity of these arthropods depends on changes in weather conditions and will begin to appear at the end of March or in the first ten days of April.

“It is expected that the number of taiga ticks will increase in the vicinity of Krasnoyarsk, Sharypovo, Lesosibirsk, and the Ilan-Nizhneingashsky district, as well as an increase in the number of steppe ticks in the vicinity of Minusinsk. At the same time, it is expected that the number of taiga ticks in the Achinsk area will remain at last year’s level and that steppe ticks in the vicinity of Kansk will decline,” Rospotrebnadzor said.

Epidemiologists recalled that ticks pose a serious danger to human health, as they are carriers of infections such as encephalitis, borreliosis, anaplasmosis, ehrlichiosis and Siberian tick-borne typhus. Residents are urged to take care of vaccination against tick-borne viral encephalitis now.
