The Director General of the National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC), Paul Anghel, recommends consumers to pay special attention to the appearance of minced and beer products, but also to verify the labeling of these products, considering that during this period the Romanians celebrate the day of May 1 with the traditional small and beer.
“When purchasing food: carefully check the appearance of the chopped meat; do not buy unmatched products; the label must contain information about the allergen ingredients and the validity term. Refuse products with missing labels. Avoid purchasing minced meat from unauthorized places, because you risk buying Paul,”
Regarding the beer, the general manager of the ANPC recommends checking the status of the packaging, the liquidity of the liquid and the date of minimal durability.
“If you spend May 1 in recreational areas: make sure the products are exposed in functional refrigerated windows. The packages must be intact, and the labels contain all the necessary information. Sellers must be properly equipped and comply with hygiene rules,” he stressed.
Last but not least, consumers must pay attention to the displayed price and check the concordance between the prices displayed and those marked on the house vouchers.
“Request and keep the tax receipt: it is the only proof in the case of a justified complaint!”, Anghel wrote on the social network.
Following the checks of the previous years, ANPC has found serious irregularities, including: the use of expired or without label products, the marketing of foods with traces of mold, the use of burnt oil and unregistered utensils, non-observance of storage temperatures and hygienic-sanitary conditions, lack of information on allergens or provenance.
