In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the head of the regional traffic police department was detained on suspicion of taking a bribe, the investigative department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reported. A criminal case was initiated on the basis of materials presented by the Federal Security Service of Russia for the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the operational investigative unit of the internal security department of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

According to investigators, in the period from 2021 to 2025, a policeman in charge of the Krasnoturansky branch of the State Road Safety Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia acted in the interests of a company specializing in the transportation of goods, and received a bribe for this: a car worth more than 4 million rubles and more than 2 million rubles in cash.

“The bribe was intended to ensure unhindered registration of the company’s vehicles and not bring the director to administrative responsibility for offenses in the field of road safety,” investigators explained.

In particular, the police officer helped smoothly register 26 company vehicles, and in July 2025 he knew for sure that the director of the company was driving a car while drunk, but did not take any measures to prevent this and punish the culprit.

At the moment, the policeman and the director of the company have been detained. They are suspected, depending on the role of each, of committing crimes under Part 6 of Art. 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (receiving a bribe in the form of money and other property for connivance in the service on an especially large scale), Part 5 of Art. 291 (giving a bribe to an official on an especially large scale). The policeman was chosen as a preventive measure – detention.

In a criminal case, investigative actions are carried out aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the crimes committed.

The police added that the officer has been suspended from duty. If guilt is confirmed, he will be dismissed from the internal affairs bodies on negative grounds and will be punished in the manner prescribed by law.
