Lamine Yamal made no secret of the fact that he idolized Neymar as a child. The Barcelona star reveals his friendship with the FC Santos striker may bring them together in the summer break after the World Cup in the USA, Mexico and Canada.
The condition for the joint plan to be implemented is that the stars of FC Barcelona and FC Santos end up meeting in the United States of America in the WC 2026 final.
Lamine Yamal scored an easy success with Barcelona (3-1) away from Elche on Saturday, after a Champions League victory with FC Copenhagen (4-1), thanks to which Hansi Flick's team reached the last eight.

However, what stole the show was the way Lamine Yamal celebrated the first goal of the game, imitating Neymar's famous gesture by crossing his arms.
“I remembered the day Neymar went to PSG and played at the Parc des Princes in the Champions League. I wanted to celebrate in the same way on a Champions night, but at Camp Nou”, explained the Brazilian after the match, recalling Neymar's celebration against Liverpool in 2018.
The history of serious injuries gives Neymar chills!
Neymar and Lamine Yamal spent a holiday together in June 2025 when the Spaniard visited Rio de Janeiro and stayed at the Brazilian legend's house in Mangaratiba. After the win at Elche, Lamine said he spoke to the Santos striker on FaceTime, revealing the curious pact ahead of the World Cup, which demonstrates their strong bond.
“I made a deal with Neymar: if Spain and Brazil meet in the final, we will go on holiday together.”
As Spain will be in Group H (along with Cape Verde, Saudi Arabia and Uruguay) and Brazil will play in Group C (with Morocco, Haiti and Scotland), the two teams could avoid each other until a hypothetical final on July 19. Because of this, they decided to take the initiative and make a pact that would put their friendship above all else.

The question is whether Neymar will catch Carlo Ancelotti's squad of 25. He has expressed his desire to participate in another tournament, but his attendance remains uncertain because of that the long history of serious injuries and the recovery process after knee surgery on December 22, 2025, to treat a medial meniscus injury.
Neymar, who turns 34 on Thursday, has not played for Brazil's national team since October 2023, when he suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus, and is yet to return to the pitch for Santos.
