Americans reveal. The Russians were supposed to apologize for the attack on the train in Ukraine

This is precisely about the attacks carried out last Tuesday, January 27, on a Ukrainian passenger train and Odessa. As a result of the night firing of Russian drones and rockets, five people traveling in the plane died.

A possible short-term de-escalation of Russian attacks began to be discussed after Donald Trump announced last Thursday that he had personally asked Russian leader Vladimir Putin “not to shell Kiev and other cities” for a week due to forecasted drastic frosts. However, the US president did not specify when exactly this request was made, which came against the background of a serious energy crisis in Ukraine caused by Russian airstrikes.

On Friday, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Ukraine, which has also hit Russian infrastructure, will stop such airstrikes unless Russia carries out similar bombings. The American daily The New York Times reports that, according to an adviser to the Ukrainian president's office, the possible energy truce was treated as a “gentleman's agreement” among the negotiators.

Delegations from Moscow, Washington and Kiev met on Saturday, January 24, in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, for the first trilateral peace talks during Trump's term. Their continuation in the United Arab Emirates is scheduled for the coming Sunday, although – as President Zelensky said on Friday – the date and place of this round may still change.
