The woman from Galați who tortured her 9-year-old daughter to death, in 2024, was definitively sentenced to 28 years and 4 months in prison. The Galati Court of Appeal rejected the appeals made by her lawyer and remains with the sentence established in the first instance.
In the same file, the sentences of 18 years and 8 months of imprisonment received by the girl's uncle and aunt, who lived in the same apartment, for complicity in aggravated murder, were upheld, reports Agerpres.
“Rejects, as unfounded, the appeals filed by the defendants Vasilache Eugenia, Vasilache Elena Anamaria and Vasilache Florin against the criminal sentence No. 196/14.07.2025 of the Galati Tribunal (…) maintains the state of preventive detention of the defendant Vasilache Eugenia and deduces from the main punishment applied to her the duration of detention and preventive arrest starting from 31.01.2024 to date (29.01.2026). The measure of judicial control taken against the defendants Vasilache Elena Anamaria and Vasilache Florin is found to be terminated by law”, the Court of Appeals decision states.
By the sentence of the Galati Court of July 14, 2025, Vasilache Eugenia, the mother of the deceased girl, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for aggravated murder of a family member, also receiving punishments for ill-treatment of minors and domestic violence.
The judges merged the sentences, adding 1/3 of the sum of the other prison terms imposed to the most severe sentence, so that she will serve 28 years and 4 months in prison.
