Two Italian citizens were detained by the police in Arad, suspected of renting luxury cars to take them to Italy and sell them, according to judicial sources cited by Agerpres. Research continues to identify several Romanian accomplices.

The case has been in the works for several months, and four searches were carried out in the county on Thursday. The targeted cars were usually manufactured in 2025, and the Italians disabled their GPS systems before taking them out of the country. In Italy, they were declared stolen, so that the rental companies in Arad could recover their damages through insurance.
According to the investigators, there are no suspicions that the rental companies were involved. The value of stolen cars is between 60,000 and 90,000 euros. The investigation continues into a fraud case and the total damage is yet to be determined.
