A new expressway of 120.47 km is being built in Romania: it is part of the strategic European road corridor

Cristian Pistol, head of CNAIR, announced today the signing of the contract for the execution of Lot 3 of the Arad-Oradea Expressway, a strategic project for Romania. Lot 3 has a length of 47.07 km and represents the last piece of express road of the high-speed connection between Arad and Oradea that was not yet covered by execution contracts.

“Contracts signed for the construction of the entire Arad-Oradea Express Road (120.47 km)! It is an essential moment, marking the fact that the entire high-speed connection between Arad and Oradea is now covered by execution contracts”Cristian Pistol sent.

The contract for Lot 3 was awarded to the Turkish builder NUROL İNSAAT VE TİCARET ANONİM SİRKETİ, which will have 24 months to complete the works, the value of the contract being 2.85 billion lei (without VAT). The works are carried out according to FIDIC Red standards.

The project is financed by the Transport Program 2021-2027 and includes the construction of 29 structures, among which the passage at km 108+925, with a length of 592 meters, crossing the railway and DJ709B stands out.

The Arad-Oradea Express Road is part of the strategic European road corridor that will ensure the connection between the Baltic Sea, the Black Sea and the Aegean Sea, thus contributing to the integration of the Romanian road infrastructure into the European transport network.

The entire high-speed road is divided into three lots. Lot 1 is 33.7 km, to which is added the connecting road to DN79 – Salonta (5.3 km), the contract being signed on May 28, 2025.

Lot 2 is 39.7 km, to which is added the connecting road to the border with Hungary (10 km), the contract being signed on September 23, 2025. Lot 3, signed today, January 29, 2026, is 47.07 km, to which is added the connecting road to the Arad West industrial area (2.9 km).
