Greg Bovino dismissed from office. He headed the services in Minneapolis

Atlantic magazine wrote that Bovino had been relieved of his command and would return to his previous assignments in California, where he is scheduled to retire soon. A Reuters source also said that Bovino is no longer the commander. NewsNation television also reported on Bovino's dismissal, citing its sources.
Earlier, media reported that Bovino and some of his officers were expected to leave Minneapolis soon. In recent weeks, Bovino has become the public face of the services' deportation operations. According to CNN, he aroused frustration among representatives of Donald Trump's administration with his approach to the shooting of a man in Minneapolis by his officers.

Has the Department of Homeland Security confirmed Bovino's dismissal?
The department denies this
Hours after Saturday's incident, Bovino baselessly claimed that 37-year-old nurse Alex Pretti intended to carry out a “massacre” against his subordinates, and in an interview with CNN on Sunday he announced that it was not Pretti who was the victim, but the officers.
Department of Homeland Security spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin commented on the media reports. “Gregory Bovino was NOT relieved of his duties. Neither was the spokeswoman [Karoline Leavitt] she said at the White House podium, “the commander is a key part of the president's team and a great American,” McLaughlin wrote on X.
The Atlantic, citing two sources, also reported that Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and her close adviser Corey Lewandowski, who were Bovino's biggest supporters in the department, are at risk of losing their jobs.
CNN did not report on Bovino's dismissal, but reported that the Ministry of Homeland Security restricted his access to social media accounts with immediate effect.
In recent weeks, Bovino has become the public face of the services' deportation operations. According to CNN, he aroused frustration among representatives of Donald Trump's administration with his approach to the shooting of a man in Minneapolis by his officers.
As “Atlantic” assessed, Bovino's sudden demotion shows that the Trump administration is considering changing its aggressive tactics after Saturday's tragedy.
