The tax office is preparing a protest at a difficult time of the year. The sticking point is the chairs

The strike of KAS and Customs and Tax Service employees is to start at the beginning of February, Radio Eska reports. This is the peak period for Poles submitting tax returns. Since members of the civil service corps in Poland do not have the right to strike, they cannot stop working. However, they have other possibilities to enforce their claims against the state. One of them is the so-called Italian strike, which involves performing duties extremely slowly, with detailed implementation of all procedures. This significantly slows down work and reduces its efficiency, and also affects other groups of people, primarily customers.

KAS strike. Extended waiting times for tax refunds
In February, employees of the National Tax Administration are planning an Italian strike, which may prove to be a major inconvenience for people filing tax returns. As Dominik Lach – head of the tax office of “Solidarity” – informed in an interview with Radio Eska, officials are demanding salary increases and improved working conditions. They demand, among other things: replacing chairs that do not meet health and safety standards. “We want pay rises. 90% of computer chairs should be replaced because they do not meet current occupational health and safety requirements,” says Dominik Lach.
The trade union representative also informs what the Italian strike will look like. “During this period of very intense work, our employees will be especially careful to verify the tax returns submitted by our citizens. This will probably involve an extended waiting period for the refund,” he explains in an interview with Radio Eska.

In turn, officers of the Customs and Tax Service at the borders will “verify the clearance of goods with particular care.” It turns out that this is the only service in the country that did not receive the so-called housing benefit, which from 2025 will be provided to officers of uniformed services: police, border guard, State Fire Service, State Protection Service, Internal Security Agency, Foreign Intelligence Agency, Military Intelligence Service, Military Counterintelligence Service.
