What is the film about?
“On Drive” is a Ukrainian action film about illegal racing, filmed in real locations in Kharkov.
“Summer. Kharkov. Most of the boys and girls either left the city or left the country forever. Those who remained are looking for a way to fill the void between air raid warnings and news. At the center of the story are three friends: the charismatic Arta, the determined Dan and the Crimean Tatar Rustem,” the description says. “During the alarm, they accidentally break down the doors to the underground parking lot of the shopping center and find abandoned cars there. This is where the race begins that changes everything.”
According to the plot, impromptu races become viral, and spectators gather in Kharkov to watch the races, and the main characters turn from amateur drivers into local legends.
“The culmination is the appearance of Timur, the owner of the shopping center and a former racing driver, who creates his own “racing empire”, controlling everything and everyone. At the center of the story is the conflict between dreams and compromises, between adrenaline and danger, between friendship and competition for the attention of Alice, a racing participant who becomes a catalyst for the struggle,” the press release says.
