According to a court decision, a resident of Krasnoyarsk will be paid almost 320 thousand rubles for damage caused by flooding of her apartment.
According to Rospotrebnadzor, a utility accident occurred inthis summer 2024. The cause was a rupture of the cold water meter fitting. As a result of the flooding, the laminate flooring swelled and furniture was damaged. In addition, the apartment on the floor below also suffered.
After assessing the cost of repair and restoration work, the victim filed a claim with the developer, but was refused compensation for damages. Not agreeing with this decision, she filed a lawsuit.
“Assuming that the water meter had defects that caused the flooding, the plaintiff also submitted her claims to the manufacturer of the metering device – Dekast M LLC. The examination confirmed that the cause of the damage to the fitting was a manufacturing defect.“, the supervisory authority said.
As a result, the court ordered with Dekast M LLC in favor of a woman 214,541 rubles in compensation for damages, 20,564 rubles in expenses for pre-trial examinations, 10,000 rubles in compensation for moral damage, 70,000 rubles in fines and other expenses in the amount of 2,861 rubles. The decision came into force.
