Ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. The Peace Council is another element

There has been a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip since October 10, 2025, and the creation of the Peace Council is to be an element of the implementation of the second phase of the ceasefire.

Invitations were to be sent to nearly 60 countries. Donald Trump's administration told countries that want to obtain a permanent seat on the Gaza Peace Council that they must contribute “at least one billion dollars” (approx. PLN 3.64 billion) for three-year membership, Bloomberg previously reported.

One person familiar with the plan told the Financial Times that the U.S. administration sees the Peace Council as “potential substitute for the UN” and “a kind of parallel, unofficial body dealing with conflicts also outside Gaza.” According to the daily, the body could also look at the situation in Ukraine and Venezuela.
