The Romanian international was also wanted by Dinamo about two weeks ago, but the interest of the “dogs” faded after the club trained by Kopic completed the transfer of Valentin Țicu, right from Petrolul, to the same position.

Under these conditions, Andres Dumitrescu terminated his contract with Slavia Prague, a club for which he played 8 official matches, and returns to the Super League after a year spent in the Czech Republic. Last season he was loaned to Sigma Olomouc, for which he made 5 official appearances.

Petrolul official release: “Welcome, Andres Dumitrescu!”

Petrolul Ploiești officially announced the transfer via social networks:

WELCOME, ANDRES DUMITRESCU!
FC Petrolul Ploiești reached an agreement with the player Andres Dumitrescu (24 years old), signing a contract with our club valid until the end of the 2026-2027 season.

Born in Slatina, Andres Dumitrescu stood out in the shirt of Sepsi OSK Sf. Gheorghe, a team with which he won two Romanian Cups and as many Supercups, before transferring, in the summer of 2023, to the gallant Czech formation Slavia Praga. He returned, on loan, to Sepsi, during the '23/'24 and '24/'25 seasons, and since the summer of last year he was seconded to Sigma Olomouc, having five appearances, in the current seasons, in the first Czech league, the Czech Cup, the Europa League preliminaries and the Conference League group stage.

Developing as a left defender, Andres Dumitrescu was part of the “tricolor” team at the final tournament of the “U21” European Championship in 2023, being also called up to the senior team, on the occasion of the game against Israel, in November 2023.

Andres Dumitrescu, a selection in the “tricolor”

Quoted by Transfermarkt at 300,000 euros, Dumitrescu played his last official match on November 22, in the 2-2 Dukla Prague – Sigma Olomouc match, in which he scored only one minute. Between stages 1 and 13 it was not used.

Slavia Prague acquired him in September 2023 from Sepsi OSK, for the sum of one million euros, after which he was loaned twice: to Sepsi and later to Sigma Olomouc, in the summer of 2025. Throughout his career, Andres Dumitrescu played 107 matches in the Superliga, scoring 3 goals and providing 8 decisive assists. He has 4 trophies with Sepsi, two Cups and two Supercups.

Former junior and youth international, Andres has also been selected for the first national team. However, he did not get the chance to debut, being an unused substitute in a 2-1 draw with Israel in November 2023.
