Gigi Becali's fears seem to be coming true. At the beginning of this week, FCSB's boss stated that defender Andre Duarte, the new transfer this winter, needs the green card from Ujpest to be able to perform in the red-blue shirt.
During Thursday, one day before the match in Mioveni against FC Argeș, the first official match this year, Becali revealed that the Hungarians have not sent the green card until this moment. He said he has complained to FIFA about the Hungarian club and is now hoping for a response by Friday night's match.

Ujpest sued Andre Duarte at the end of last year, considering his departure from the team illegal.

Andre Duarte parted ways with Ujpest at the end of November. The Portuguese unilaterally denounced the contract with the Hungarians, accusing that he was sent to the second team. He then signed with FCSB, being officially presented by the Romanian champion. The Hungarians accuse that Duarte acted illegally when he left the club.

The stopper is not the first scandal of this kind. In 2023, Duarte also left FCU Craiova with a scandal, after one season in Bănie. He didn't show up for the team anymore, then he signed with Reggiana. Adrian Mititelu complained to FIFA, but lost the case.
FC Argeș and FCSB meet in the first game of 2026 in the Super League. The match in Mioveni is scheduled for Friday, from 20:00.
