In Uzhgorod, a 12-year-old patient at a dental clinic died after nine days in a coma.

“On January 5, the child was taken by ambulance to the hospital from one of the private dental clinics in Uzhgorod in an unconscious state. […] The child was in the intensive care unit for nine days. However, despite the attempts of doctors, they could not save him,” the report says.

Law enforcement officers noted that they did not receive information about the hospitalization of the teenager in serious condition and learned about the incident on January 14 after the girl died.

A pre-trial investigation was opened under Part 1 of Art. 115 and part 2 of Art. 140 (intentional murder and improper performance of professional duties by a medical worker) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

“Priority investigative actions are continuing, in particular, a search is being carried out in the premises of the dental clinic. Investigators are confiscating medical documentation. The interview with the medical staff of the institution, witnesses and eyewitnesses of the incident is also ongoing. The police have ordered a forensic medical examination, which should establish the exact cause of the child’s death,” the police explained.

The regional prosecutor's office reported that the girl was in a coma for nine days.

“According to preliminary information, the child suffered anaphylactic shock after being given anesthesia at a dentist’s appointment,” the post says.
