NKRECP raised electricity tariffs for industry for the second time, again pro…

For the second time this summer, the regulator made a decision to increase tariffs for businesses, without taking into account the comments of consumers. Oleksandr Kalenkov, president of the Ukrmetalurgprom Association of Enterprises, said this while commenting on today's decision of the Commission to raise electricity distribution tariffs by 25-47%. A month ago, the NCRECP increased the maximum market prices for industry by 1.6 times, up to UAH 15,000/MWh.
“The cost of electricity for business in Ukraine is one of the highest among European countries. Such steps and the tariff policy in the energy sector significantly increase the cost of production and undermine the competitiveness of Ukrainian metallurgy on foreign markets. Complete disregard of the position of consumers on the part of the NCRECP can lead to the shutdown of enterprises, loss of jobs in the frontline regions and a decrease in tax revenues to the budget,” Kalenkov stressed.
He also emphasized that during the adoption of today's decision, none of the comments submitted by consumers were taken into account. According to Kalenkov, raising tariffs without consulting the industry creates additional risks for the economy in wartime conditions and endangers the stability of exports, on which the country's foreign exchange earnings depend.
