On January 8, 2026, the box office for “Cheburashka 2” exceeded 4 billion rubles, taking into account the pre-sale of tickets for the coming days. The rental started on January 1.

This is the second result in the history of Russian box office: previously, the milestone of four billion rubles was surpassed only by the first part of “Cheburashka” in 2023, but this happened on the 15th day of release.

“Prostokvashino” and “Pinocchio,” which also came out on January 1, continue to perform almost equally: each of these films collected about 1.7 billion rubles by January 8.

“Cheburashka 3” has already been announced, and the release is planned for 2027.

Let us remind you that Russian cinemas abandoned the idea of releasing the third part of the cult saga “Avatar” by James Cameron (it was released worldwide on December 19) during the New Year holidays. Information about the postponement of the premiere date of the film in the Russian Federation appeared on the Cineplex portal.

It is reported that this decision was made by the Association of Cinema Owners. During the January holidays, Cinema Park/Formula Kino, Mirage and other large networks will show only those films that will be officially released in Russia. Pre-show screenings of Hollywood projects will resume on January 15, 2026.
