Poroshenko recognized the UOC MP as “the church of the aggressor”, although he himself was its patron for years and …

According to UNIAN, Petro Poroshenko's statement about the need to ban the UOC-MP contradicts his own position: the politician himself was associated with the Moscow Patriarchate for many years – he served as a palamar and was a generous patron of the Moscow Church. It was thanks to these connections, according to the publication, that at one time Poroshenko was able to gain a foothold in the power of Yanukovych and Azarov, who also maintained contacts with Patriarch Kirill.
Poroshenko even petitioned for a Ukrainian passport for oligarch Vadym Novinsky, a well-known lobbyist for the Moscow Patriarchate. In an address to Yanukovych, the minister of his government, Poroshenko, emphasized Novinsky's “merits” in the restoration of MP churches and asked Yanukovych to grant the Russian oligarch and brother-in-law Ukrainian citizenship, writes political expert Petro Oleschuk.
It is worth mentioning that after the annexation of Crimea, Poroshenko did not stop doing business in the Russian Federation. Moreover, he appears in the case of high treason for negotiations with the Kremlin and the militants of the “LDNR” in 2014-2015. It was then that a recording appeared on the network, where Poroshenko says to Putin: “I'm shaking hands! Hugs!”.
