Krasnoyarsk police stopped an attempt by telephone scammers to steal 700 thousand rubles from a pensioner
Law enforcement officers received information that a 71-year-old resident of the regional center, under the pretext of exchanging banknotes, could transfer all her cash to scammers. Criminal investigation operatives arrived at the pensioner’s place of residence and, without delay, managed to detain a taxi driver who had taken things and money from the elderly woman.
The man told the police that he immediately suspected something was wrong, but the grandmother was categorically insistent that the things needed to be urgently handed over to relatives living in another city, and no scammers would deceive her.
A pensioner from Krasnoyarsk almost lost 700 thousand rubles
“When the police called the elderly woman’s apartment, she refused to open for a long time and certainly did not admit that she had given money to an unknown person. The operatives and the investigator had difficulty, but still managed to convince the pensioner that she had become a victim of criminals, and all her money would not have gone to “exchange,” but directly into the pockets of the swindlers,” said the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the region.
Thanks to the competent and timely actions of the police, the pensioner managed to save her finances. Based on this fact, a criminal case was initiated under Part 3 of Art. 30, part 3 art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Fraud”.
Now investigators are identifying all the persons involved in the attempt to deceive a resident of Krasnoyarsk.
