Anthony Joshua made his first public statement after the tragic road accident from Nigeria, as a result of which two members of his team lost their lives.

The former two-time world heavyweight champion was injured in the accident near Lagos on Monday.

Joshua was hospitalized and discharged on Wednesday before returning to the UK. The accident claimed the lives of two of his close friends and teammates: strength and conditioning coach Sina Ghami and trainer Latif “Latz” Ayodele.

The funerals of Sina Ghami and Latif “Latz” Ayodele will take place on Sunday at a mosque in London.

Meanwhile, the tragic incident occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway when the SUV Joshua was traveling in collided with a stationary truck.

Anthony Joshua miraculously escaped with minor injuries, with reports suggesting a last-minute change of venue may have saved his life.

Adding to the chaos of the scene, reports emerged that Joshua's mobile phone was stolen by onlookers immediately after the collision.

This theft raised a significant concern about the security of his personal data at such a vulnerable time. Today, the boxing community remains in mourning as Anthony Joshua pays tribute to his fallen colleagues.

Joshua, born in Watford to Nigerian parents, was on holiday in the country. The trip followed his impressive sixth-round knockout victory over Jake Paul in Miami last December.
