Doctor warned that this popular winter entertainment is fraught with a lot of risks receive serious injuries due to the fact that the tubes develop enormous speeds – up to 100 km/h, are completely uncontrollable, have no brakes, and can rotate around their axis while moving, roll over or crash into an obstacle.
“Every year we face the consequences of tubing. People plan a fun vacation, but it ends in tragedy. Almost every winter, victims are brought to the emergency room straight from the hill. Often injuries require multiple surgical interventions and then long-term rehabilitation. The consequences of an injury can linger for many years, and sometimes for a lifetime,” lamented Konstantin Tutynin.
To avoid tragic consequences, the doctor recommends following simple rules:
- only a specially prepared route (no more than 20% slope), the presence of sides (gutter-shaped), no sudden changes in terrain;
- riding strictly alone;
- helmet is required;
- hold the handles tightly.
What you should absolutely not do:
- ride where there are obstacles (trees, people, cars, etc.);
- connect several tubes to each other;
- ride together or in a group;
- sit on tubing until the slope is completely cleared by the previous ones who have rolled down;
- stand, lie down or jump on the tubing while descending.

And in Krasnoyarsk Rospotrebnadzor they gave Some important tips to ensure that downhill skiing on any equipment is safe. Firstly, you need to pay attention to the location and slope – the slide should be away from the road and bodies of water, have enough space to stop, and there should be no obstacles on the way such as trees, fences, etc. Adults need to be close to children, after explaining to them riding rules.
“It is also importantObserve the order to avoid injury when someone flying from above at speed slides into someone standing below. All riding equipment must be in good working order; improvised materials should not be used. The best time for skiing is during daylight hours; in poor lighting, skiing requires special vigilance,” Rospotrebnadzor said.
