“The name ‘Wolf Moon’ comes from the folklore of Europe and North America, where cold January nights were filled with wolf howls – not from hunger, as was previously thought, but for communication within the pack,” said Head of the Reshetnev University Observatory Sergei Veselkov.
Many Krasnoyarsk residents managed to capture this rare astronomical phenomenon; they shared the footage on social networks.
Let us add that last night the peak of the Quadrantids New Year's starfall occurred, but visibility was difficult due to the full moon.
