Gigi Becali went to the mountain on New Year's Eve, but not for fun. On his knees, at the little church in Poiana Brașov, the FCSB patron made his wish: “Please, let's parade him!”

On the night between years, Gigi Becali left aside the traditional champagne and fireworks and chose to welcome 2026 in a quiet way, with faith and prayer.

FCSB patron spent New Year's Eve in Poiana Brașov, at one of the hotels owned by George Copos.

Accompanied by his family and a few close confidants, including Mihai Stoica and Teia Sponte, Becali was nevertheless in a familiar and discreet setting. The former great players of Romanian football, Gică Hagi and Gică Popescu, were also at the same hotel.

Known for his religiosity, Becali got up from his meal before midnight and went to the resort's small church, where he sat with the monks in prayer until after two in the morning.

Upon returning to the hotel restaurant, hunger had its say. The landowner from Pipera ordered a hearty menu with traditional dishes: sheep cheese and pastrami, roe, onions, tomatoes and fresh bread, according to Fanatik.
