A Ukrainian drone attack caused a fire at the Tuapse oil refinery, the operational command of Russia's Krasnodar region announced on Wednesday morning, quoted by Reuters.
The attack damaged refinery equipment, a port berth and five homes – windows were broken in four apartment blocks and a private house – the Krasnodar operational command reported on Telegram.
Tuapse, in the Krasnodar region, is located in southwestern Russia on the shores of the Black Sea, about 350 km from the nearest Ukrainian territories on the other side of the Sea of Azov.
The fire at the refinery was extinguished after burning about 300 square meters, according to Russian authorities, who did not provide details on the extent of damage to refinery equipment or whether operations were halted.
Tuapse is one of Russia's main Black Sea exit points for oil products, linked to Rosneft's export-oriented refinery, which has a processing capacity of around 240,000 barrels of crude oil per day and supplies products such as naphtha, fuel oil and diesel.
The port and refinery have been repeatedly hit by Ukrainian drone attacks, with previous attacks causing fires and sometimes disrupting operations.
Several Ukrainian publications and Telegram accounts have published images that appear to show a large-scale fire there after the strikes from Tuesday night into Wednesday.
