Donald Trump after the attack on the Venezuelan port: we hit them very hard
This is the first known case of a US attack on Venezuela, the target of a blockade by the US Navy. However, Trump did not provide further details about the location, time or method of the attack. In an interview with WABC, he said the installations were “just blown up.”
– I don't know if you've read or seen – they have a large factory or a large plant to which they send (…) where the ships come from – the president told the hosts of the program, John Catsimatidis and Rita Cosby. “We blew it two nights ago. So we hit them very hard,” he added.
Meanwhile, anonymous representatives of the Trump administration told the New York Times that the attacked facility was a drug production site. Trump said he spoke with Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro “fairly recently” but “not much came of it.” According to reports, among others: “Wall Street Journal”, Trump allegedly offered Maduro a safe trip to a third country, but the dictator additionally demanded amnesty for himself and his entourage.
