During his visit to Canada on December 27, Zelensky spoke with European partners and discussed 20 points of the “basic document on ending the war,” including the attitude to the territorial issue, management of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant and funds.
According to Zelensky, the discussion was attended by Prime Minister of Canada Mark Carney, President of France Emmanuel Macron, Chancellor of Germany Friedrich Merz, Prime Ministers of Finland – Alexander Stubb, Italy – George Meloni, Denmark – Mette Frederiksen, Poland – Donald Tusk, the Netherlands – Dick Schoof, Norway – Jonas Garr Stere, Sweden – Ulf Kristersson, as well as President of the European Council Antonio Costa, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and National Security Adviser to British Prime Minister Keir Starmer Jonathan Powell.
The Ukrainian president called them “friends” and thanked them for their coordination and support.
“During the conversation, we discussed how we are moving along the diplomatic track now. Together we discussed the most important priorities. Ukraine appreciates all the support. Tomorrow after the meeting with President Trump, we will continue the conversation,” Zelensky noted.
He emphasized the need for strong positions at the front and in diplomacy so that the illegitimate president of the aggressor country of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, “could not manipulate and avoid a real and fair end to the war.”
Zelensky added that the world has enough strength to ensure security and peace.
