Due to the weather conditions, the Minister of the Environment, Diana Buzoianu, convened the Committee for Emergency Situations, to coordinate the interventions in the affected regions and limit the risks for citizens.

ANM meteorologists issued on Saturday a warning of wind intensifications and precipitation in the form of snow, ice, sleet and blizzard, valid between December 27, at 10:30 a.m., and December 29, at 9:00 p.m. The targeted areas are the Southern and Eastern Carpathians, Maramureș, Transylvania, Moldova, Dobrogea and eastern Muntenia. The wind will intensify in the north of Moldova and the west of Oltenia, with speeds of 50–70 km/h, and in the mountains, gusts of 90–110 km/h, blizzarding the deposited snow.

In the city of Sinaia, the strong wind brought down several trees and poles, and since Friday evening a Wind Code Orange has been in effect, valid until Monday at 10:00. According to the Sinaia City Hall, the gusts reached speeds of 110–130 km/h, and the phenomenon is still active. The teams of SC Sinaia Forever, the Fire Department, the Gendarmerie, the Police and the Local Police, together with representatives of Electrica and GME, intervene to remove the fallen trees and remove the affected poles.

Throughout Saturday, wind intensifications will continue in the eastern, southeastern and southwestern regions, amplifying the feeling of cold, with gusts over 70–90 km/h in the mountains. Locally, a layer of snow of 5–20 cm will be deposited, and in places there will be ice or snow.

The authorities recommend citizens to avoid non-essential travel, to observe self-protection measures, not to park in areas at risk of falling trees or furniture elements and street advertising, and to report any situation that may endanger public safety.
