French President Emmanuel Macron's popularity has hit its lowest level since he was first elected in 2017, according to a poll published on Friday, just days before he delivers his end-of-the-year address.
Only 25% of French people surveyed in the Toluna/Harris Interactive poll commissioned by the LCI news channel had a favorable opinion of Macron.
Toluna/Harris director Jean-Daniel Levy said in a statement that it appears the French are judging Macron by domestic politics rather than his foreign policy positions.
Emmanuel Macron became president of France in 2017, when, at 39, he became the youngest head of state in the country's history. He won a second term in 2022 after a presidential runoff in which he defeated far-right candidate Marine Le Pen.
The survey, which included 1,099 French adults contacted online, shows that 37% of them plan to watch the French president's year-end speech, which will be broadcast live on December 31. Last year, the share was 40%.

According to the research, all the leaders of the French political class have lost popularity this year. The highest ranked is Jordan Bardella, who leads Marine Le Pen's far-right Rassemblement National, with 42% favorable views.
The poll's margin of error is between 1.4 and 3.1 percentage points.
