In Krasnoyarsk, in 2025, more than 60 cars were confiscated from violating drivers who repeatedly got behind the wheel while drunk. This was reported by the press service of the State Traffic Inspectorate of the region.
“Confiscation of a vehicle applies to drivers who have previously been brought to administrative or criminal liability for driving while intoxicated or for refusing a medical examination, and have again committed a similar offense,” the traffic police explained.
After the court makes a guilty verdict, the car belonging to the offender is confiscated and transferred to the ownership of the state. The further fate of the confiscated transport is decided by the authorized bodies.
According to the State Traffic Inspectorate, car confiscation not only punishes the guilty driverbut also prevents possible accidentswhich may occur due to drunk driving.
