Mysterious deaths on the Rhine. Four bodies belong to one family


A report of a man lying on the bank of the Rhine, near the town of Sevelen, was received by the emergency center in St. Gallen before noon on Christmas Eve. The emergency services arriving at the scene could only confirm the death. As the investigation showed, the deceased was a 41-year-old resident of Liechtenstein. After the information reached the services of the Alpine principality, officers searched an apartment in the capital of the country, Vaduz, on Wednesday evening. They discovered three more bodies there – a man and two women.

“Preliminary findings indicate that the victims are a 73-year-old father, a 68-year-old mother and a 45-year-old sister of the man found on the bank of the Rhine,” police representatives say in a statement posted on the website.

The investigation into this case is being conducted by the criminal department of the Liechtenstein National Police and the criminal investigation department of the Swiss State Police. “The investigation is being conducted in all directions,” the officers say. They add that a significant number of uniformed officers are involved in the case. “There is no threat to the population,” police representatives also assure in a statement.
