The Krasnoyarsk Territory joined the all-Russian project “Science to the Regions” to retain talented youth.
In 2025, 45 schools from Krasnoyarsk, Norilsk, Achinsk, Lesosibirsk, Zelenogorsk, Zheleznogorsk and a number of villages in the Krasnoyarsk Territory began working under an in-depth training program from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology Research University. Siberian Federal University is the strategic partner of the project in the region.
The “Science to the Regions” project has been implemented by MIPT since September 2024 with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and meets the challenges, including those facing the economy of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. According to official statistics, the region annually loses 5–7 thousand young people aged 18–30 years. The reasons are higher salaries in the capitals and limited opportunities for building a career in high technology locally.
The project will help create a “social elevator” and a seamless education system within the region. After all, a gifted student from Norilsk or Achinsk, who gets the opportunity to receive high-quality preparation for Olympiads and the Unified State Exam, integrates into the educational environment of leading universities in the region, and is more likely to choose a university and a future place of work in the region.
“It is fundamentally important for us that the project does not work to pump out talent from the region, but to develop them and the opportunity for self-realization in the regions,” said Yulia Andreeva, head of the all-Russian project “Science to the Regions.” “We are creating an environment in which a capable child from Siberia can get an education and build a successful career without leaving home. Partnership with schools in the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Siberian Federal University is a bridge between fundamental knowledge and the demands of the real economy of the region.”
Let us remind you that the Krasnoyarsk Territory is actively developing its own concept of identifying, supporting and developing the abilities of children and youth. The results of its implementation this year were discussed at a council meeting chaired by the governor. Much attention was paid to the development of the additional education system. Thus, in the region the number of kindergartens with licenses for additional programs has increased, and due to the modernization of the material base, the number of additional general developmental programs for children under 7 years old has increased.
In addition, there are more special classes in schools in the Krasnoyarsk Territory: the development of the basic general education program in such classes is organized in agreement with partner universities. An electronic network calendar of educational events was created with events for students and teachers.
